The contribution of the Occupational Physician is essential to ensure the protection and promotion of occupational health in a world in constant transformation. The focus of occupational medicine is called to shift from the concept of "fitness to work" to the "compatibility man-work/work-man". This approach is important for the effective management of workers with higher average age and/or "fit to work with restrictions". In this paper we present an analysis of the work-related diseases and workers limitations in national healthcare settings. We describe also the Disability Management "policy" mainly applied in international countries.
